I saw this the other day, outside a government building. I think it’s a dedicated car that’s for wheel chair assessability... maybe? Any thoughts oppo?

MV-1

VPG MV-1. Purpose-built accessibility vehicle, powered by a LPG-burning 4.6 Modular. They. Are. Hideous.

I’ve seen quite a few of these in Ohio.
As others have said, MV-1. Specifically engineered for handicapped mobility.

They’re pretty common around Chicago as taxis - very rare to see one that’s not a taxi, though.

They sure are ugly but they do their job quite well.

In one of the general automotive discussion forums I read, there’s a 90% chance this is the car in every “What car is this” thread.
It’s so common, that the MV-1 is often the answer when it’s NOT a thread about the MV-1.

Wouldn’t know, but my city uses them and I see them around sometimes.

There is a blue one I see at work from time to time. They aren’t terribly common.

yeah i dont think ive ever seen one that wasnt a taxi or medvan

I think even on Oppo, it’s punching way above its weight. The last 3-4 posts with an MV-1 in any capacity here - and we like weird shit! - have been a “WTF is this” post.

Seems like a car designed with function over fashion. Lol

I will not doubt the hideous claim, lol. Ita always in the same spot, so I wonder if it ever moves.

That explains why it’s outside the government building then.

Well, it’s a brand that’s the red headed step child, it doesn’t quite fit it not look edgy... or even bland.

I poked around an MV-1 at the auto show when they came out. Cool idea and funky look, but not a really great car. Too expensive for what you get if I remember.

It’s meant for handicapped people with wheel chairs it does have a slight resemblance to a Honda Element to me.

Let’s put the circular lights in square housings!

I’d love to buy one once they depreciate to use as a work van.

I openly desire one of these but I’d hate to deprive the use of the vehicle to someone who needs it. Maybe I should just get a job hooning driving one.

Well, it’s a specialty product, made unique to cover a niche market. Of course it’s pricey, which is the sad part. It should be more accessible...

Originally I thought you said Honda elephant, which I feel is also correct, :).

Hoon it too please, :).

Drive it, depreciated its valve (I hear its pricey), then sell it dirt cheap to someone in need. :).

Lol :) I used to own a 07 element in silver so it did look elephant-ish

Should of put a trunk and ears on it, :).

it was a good suv rubber floors for easy cleaning both front and rear seats folded flat could make a double size bed or the rear seats could fold flat and hang on the sides by a carabineer clip or be removed. It was like a Swiss army knife of suvs and I miss it.

Thing is, for similar money, I think you can get a better car and do a conversion.
